From the Mayor in conjunction with the Public Works Director, the main lift is where it needs to be regarding water levels. The water restriction is being lifted effective immediately. Continue to be mindful of your water usage, since the water restriction status can change at any time. Tomorrow June 29th will be the last day for curb pickup for flood items. If you have items that need to be picked up due to flood damage, call City Hall today to be placed on the list for pick up tomorrow.

With our main lift station levels receding, we are at a point where we need to monitor the sewer and will determine later today if we can ease restrictions. The laundromat currently will remain open, but we are still asking that citizens still be cognizant of water usage in their homes. At this time, we are requesting the car washes remain closed, until a determination is made later today on the water restrictions. We also want to let citizens know that we do have a spare pump and have access to more pumps if the need arises today, over the weekend, or on Monday with the possibility of rain. We appreciate your patience during this time.
UPDATE: Due to the continued water restriction but large need for people to wash their clothes, the City is going have the laundromat open tomorrow starting at 7:00am on a trial basis to help elevate the need. Please continue to refrain from doing laundry at home since we can’t monitor the usage.
At this time the water restriction for Canton will stay in affect. Even with the small amount of rain the City received, it set off the emergency alarms. City crews are still pumping and discharging the lagoons to help with the influx of water and will re-evaluate tomorrow. Thank you for your continued patience.

The Rubble Site will be open the week of June 25th through June 28th, 12:00- 7:00 pm, and Saturday June 29th. Ash trees can be taken to the rubble site during this time, due to the flooding at Chautauqua Park. The drop site on the west end of the high school parking lot has been extended to Tuesday July 2nd. This will be a drop off site for carpet, furniture, and other items as long as they are not tires, appliances with compressors, or hazardous materials.
The water restriction has been reinstated as of 6:40 pm on June 24th. Residents of Canton, please restrict water usage due to the sanitary sewer being overwhelmed. Please ensure sump pumps are not running into sanitary systems until further notice.
Today June 24th at 3:30 we are lifting the restriction on washing clothes. Please be mindful to wash clothes sparingly because the system is still close to capacity. We may have to bring back restrictions if we reach capacity again. At this time the car washes will remain closed.
