The rubble site will be closed on June 21st, due to flooding.


Highway 18 is open, water is starting to recede, watch for asphalt in some intersections throughout Canton. There are still roads into Canton that are flooded/closed, and roads throughout Canton are flooded/closed. Use caution if you must travel.


Riverview Road is flooding across the road. At this time the road is closed by the airport. The intersection at 7th and Lincoln is flooded and should be avoided at this time.


Canton Open Air Market at Jack Fox Park has been canceled for this evening, due to the weather.


Slurry Seal 2024 consists of East and West Streets. Walnut Street from Dakota Street to Sanborn Street. Elder Street from North Cedar Street to Sanborn Street. Maple Street from North Cedar Street to Kidder Street. First Street from North Cedar Street to Kidder Street. Slurry Seal tentatively will be July 2nd.


At last night's Commission Meeting it was decided that if you have Ash Trees on your boulevard that need to be picked up this weekend, please call city hall to be put on a pickup list. If you are interested in volunteering this weekend, please be at the shop by 7:00 am on Saturday June 8th. Also, the private Ash Tree agenda item has been moved to the July 1st Commission Meeting.


City crews will be spraying for mosquitoes tonight, Monday June 3rd.


Ash Tree Volunteer City Wide Clean-up is this coming weekend, June 7th, 8th, and 9th. This will consist of picking up logs, and limbs larger than 6-inches. All cars need to be removed from the streets starting June 6th through June 10th.


The Canton Rec program will begin next Monday, June 3rd. It will be held primarily at Kennedy Park. A tentative schedule for the summer will be posted later this week. Kids should make sure to wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothes. With the weather getting warmer, it may also be a good idea to bring a water bottle. The first day of the program the kids won’t need to bring anything extra as we will be getting to know everyone and play some fun games. Once the schedule is posted, kids should bring baseball/softball gloves on days those activities are scheduled.
The following is the day and times for each age group:
5/6 year olds- Monday/Wednesday from 9-10:30am
7/8 year olds- Monday/Wednesday from 10:30-12pm
9/10 year olds- Tuesday/Thursday from 9-10:30am
11/12 year olds- Tuesday/Thursday from 10:30-12pm


In conjunction with the Beaver Creek Project the cap that was placed last night did not hold. The water has been shut off between 9th and 13th Streets on South Bartlett, and between Bartlett and Pleasant on 11th and 12th Streets. Contractors do not have a time water will be restored. SCAM ALERT!
We received a call from a Canton resident saying she received a call from a person claiming to be the Canton Chief of Police, Dave Miller. The caller stated the number that showed up was 605-987-5612, which is the Canton Police Department's number however Dave Miller retired 5 years ago. The caller was aware of this and knew that it was a scam and ended the conversation.
